Harry told Neil McLauchlan Managing Director of Salona Yachts (Scotland) Ltd and the Dunstaffnage Group that he had tremendous faith in the boat’s safety and ability to deal with heavy seas and high winds. Harry said that the sea was showing waves of up to 7 metres in height and the winds were hitting up to 55 knots!!! “I sailed for a long period with the Genoa only and was surfing down some of waves at one point at 16.5 knots,” said Harry.

He went to say that in the whole journey there was only one point where a wave came across the boat and he felt that one of the main reasons he felt happy with the Salona 40 was that she was a “dry boat and produced little spray across her decks and as a consequence the crew were happy.” The wonderful hand built construction of the whole Salona range of yachts impressed Harry because during the worst of the gales in the North Sea he said that his crew while below decks heard no creaking or flexing of the boat even in the roughest of weather.

Harry averaged over 7-knots for the 410 mile journey from Denmark to Fraserburgh. He then took the Caledonian Canal from Inverness to Fort William and finally on to Dunstaffnage Marina where he spent a week cruising the West Coast of Scotland.
